REMEMBER TO SEE ALL THE PICTURES CLICK ON THE LINK WHERE YOU SEE THE PICS TO SHOW ALL PICTURES. Yesterday was a nostalgic day as Shirley drove the big honkin' dually all over going here and there to see the ol' home town and it was fun. Neither one of us would ever want to live in NY again but it is always good to visit. Other hilites included a trip up the mountain to the Revolutionary War site at Newtown Battle Field. What views from an area where the good guys won. Then we went into Elmira proper and went full circle with Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens). You might remember we toured his 17,000 sq. ft. home in Hartford CT. He married Olivia Langdon from Elmira NY and came here in the summers and wrote in a gazebo type study. This structure was moved from the Langdon farm to the beautiful campus of Elmira College. Then we went to his grave site nearby. We know more about Mark Twain now then ever before. After visiting the cemetery we went to dinner with Shirley's cousin Don and his wife Nancy. Here is a little travelling trivia. Other than our chronicled friends Don and Jeanne, Don and Nancy are the only other people we have met twice in DIFFERENT locations on our trip. We always have a great time with them. If you are ever in Elmira NY stop into the Elbow Room Restaurant and order the wings. They are the BEST outside of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo where the wing thing began. Exciting stuff tomorrow. We are going to take our soaring (glider) flights and go to a ballgame. Enjoy the pics.
