We've had a pretty laid back week. We did go hear our friends play on Friday night. We weren't able to dance which is hard to do when Pleasant Valley Sunday is playing but Larry would look pretty strange out there hopping around on his crutches! Lou wasn't feeling well, in fact she took the day off at work, so they weren't able to go along this time. But Singing In The Hills happens on most Tuesday's & Thursday's so they'll be able to catch plenty of the local entertainment during the summer.
Our front 'lawn' is growing like a weed, so Dick was kind enough to ride the mower over and knock it down an inch or two. Thanks buddy, helps keep the flowers from popping up which draws small bees. Onyx likes to try & catch them & they have stung the inside of her mouth a time or two in the past. You'd think she's learn a painful lesson, but nooooo, she just keeps going after them. I keep scolding her, hope she listens.
We got a little stir crazy yesterday so took a ride down a pretty two lane road which leads to Sylvan Lake if you drive it far enough. We didn't make it all the way to the lake as it was getting late in the day & it looked like a few showers might be brewing. We arrived back home but decided to take the road to the back of the property to let Onyx run a bit. Oh how she loves it on the back forty of this property. There are always a few deer for her to take off after & she loves to give chase. It always amazes us that when we call out for her to stop, she listens. She immediately turns & runs back to us. Guess she knows she'd lose her privileges if she didn't. Anyway, she's a good girl.
The thunderstorm arrived right at 6:30. We'd made plans to play cards with Dick & Lou but called and canceled. Larry can't get his cast wet & the damp earth is hard to navigate with those crutches. They are only two spaces down, but that's long enough for a good soaking in the rain. Fortunately, it only lasted about two hours & it was beautiful today. About 70 degrees I think.
Today is brother Larry's birthday, so if you are reading this, Happy Birthday brother! We love you. Wish you were here to celebrate with us. Give the family a big hug & kiss for us when you get together to celebrate your special day.
Well, guess I better hit the sack. We're making a run to Rapid City tomorrow to pick up a few things. I always enjoy that ride, it's so pretty along the way. One year we saw a mountain lion off in one of the meadows. He was far enough away I didn't get very good pics, although I did take two, but I sure wish he's show himself again. It was awesome!
