Bowe Family RV Trip West travel blog

Continuing on into western Minnesota, we stopped at Jeffers MN to see rock petrographs. They were interesting, although a little hard to see at mid-day. The landscape has become very flat and you can see forever. The area around Jeffers is prairie with some wildflowers blooming. There always seems to be a nice breeze, which makes the prairie grasses roll and ripple. We moved on to Walnut Grove, which is the town where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived on the banks of Plum Creek. We visited the museum which was interesting. We enjoyed the Little House on the Prairie books when the kids were younger. She wrote such vivid stories of growing up in this beautiful country. We will stop in DeSmet for the night and visit her house there before moving on to the Badlands. The weather has been pleasant, bright blue skies with big fluffy clouds. An occasional thunderstorm passes by, but the most interesting ones are the storms in the distance. It's so flat you can see the rain coming down somewhere miles away. Amanda is fascinated by the phenomenon.
