|We left Illinois behind and headed for Wisconsin. We headed for Wisconsin Dells and spent the afternoon there. We took an Original Wisconsin Ducks tour of the Wisconsin River. It is a very pretty area with unusual sandstone rock formations. The Ducks were fun. Next we visited a small wildlife park. It was geared more for little kids, but Kevin and Amanda enjoyed feeding the animals. Once we left there, we decided to skip Pepin WI. We had thought of visiting the Laura Ingalls Wilder house there. We headed instead for western Minnesota. We stopped for the night early near Rochester MN. Minnesota is hillier than I expected and very green. They talk about the mosquito as the state bird, but we weren't bothered by them at all. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed a nice dinner. We sat around a great fire that Kevin built and even had the first s'mores of the trip.
