|Today we travelled to Lake Powell, a massive 185 mile long man-made lake which has flooded Glen Canyon as the result of the damming of the great Colorado River. On the way we drove along the scenic East rim of the Grand Canyon to visit a desert view lookout. Then we visited Navajo and Hopi Indian trading posts selling Hopi and Kachina dolls and Native American jewellery. We drive past an impressive Glen Canyon dam via an equally impressive bridge which crosses the Canyon. In the afternoon we took a cruise on the lake down narrow canyons and through Antelope Canyon lined with rich red sandstone walls. We have a great meal in a restaurant overlooking the lake as we watch the sun go down and the moon rising in a beautifully warm orange colour. Lake Powell is truly stunning and we spend the night on its shores at the Lake Powell Resort.
