On the Road - Stockholm to Beijing travel blog

Today we took a boat around the islands, it was sunny but cold, and very picturesque. We potted around the town of Irkutsk and Listyanka, with flea markets massively overpriced and tackey, some good food markets and a laze on the pebble beach. there were some keen sunbakers, and even keener swimmers bearing the mild 5 degree water! MAD! We had the opportunity to take the chairlift up the steep mountain (hill!) for some great views and also met the founder of the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian express for a tour of how the 'other half' live. It was pure luxury with separate cabins for different cultures with their own cooks and attendants, ensuites and silver service dining carts! Gret fun, luxury but quite sterile I imagine! We were invited to dinner and wine, which was lovely, lovely food, wine and interesting to meet the guests whom averaged about 65 years old. I've just got back to our B&B, with a sunburnt face, spent AGES updating this journal and now need to have a lovely Banya (sauna) and pack for tomorrows next journey on the Trans-Siberian (peasnt version) for two days to Ulan Bataar - MONGLIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
