Today was a long drive on the Illinois Turnpike & enduring the bad traffic on the Chicago expressways. They say Chicago has two seasons: winter & construction. We crawled along much of the expressways and highways that had been narrowed down to one lane while they were working on the other lanes. It takes patience to travel past Chicago to go northwest to the suburbs.
We had found an RV park nearer to one set of cousins that was surrounded by many small lakes. It is a summer haven of lake houses and "camping resorts" filled with park model manufactured homes. Fish Lake Beach Resort had a section set aside for RVs and it was a lovely shaded park.
We settled in and drove the 30+ miles to visit cousin Pat & Joe for the afternoon (we visited with them last in 2006). They both had bad summer colds and were packing to go to Las Vegas the next day so we caught up with news, ordered pizza in, and bid them luck on their Vegas endeavor.
Back at camp, because there were too many trees for our DirecTv, we watched a movie on our laptop as our DVD player is now not working. Time to break out the paperback books.
