Traveled from Lima going north to Tujillo, by bus on the Pan American Highway, with an overnight in Barraca. The first day was a five hour ride. On the 9th I left Barraca for the 6 & 1/2 hour ride up the coast to Tujillo. The scenery was pretty much the same both days... sandy - hilly desert with occasional views of the ocean. The long stretches of desert were broken infrequently by lush green oases wherever a river from the Andes would cross it. Growing in these fertile areas were miles of sugar cane, asparagus and a little corn.
