Seeing the USA in our Chevrolet travel blog

I will make just a brief entry to let you know about our day on the road. I will catch you up on Christmas day activities after we arrive in Arizona and get some rest.

We left the grandkids behind in the SF Bay Area and drove 464 miles through very heavy day after Christmas traffic to Beaumont, CA for an overnight rest stop. The travel day to Mesa, AZ should be much easier tomorrow morning.

Weather was much improved and we had dry roads, very little wind and cool temperatures for the long drive to the California southland. Interstate 5 through the central valley was in fairly decent shape except for the right hand truck lane. Traffic was bumper to bumper much of the way to the I-210, which took us north of the San Fernando Valley and the Los Angeles area.

Traffic on the I-210 was just fine until we joined up with the I-10 eastbound in Redlands. It was stop and go at the point all the way to our Best Western Inn destination in Beaumont.

Juanita is out getting some eats while I make this entry and rest up a bit. We will shower and drop off for a well deserved night of sleep before making an early morning departure for Mesa. We hope to arrive at our next destination by about noon tomorrow.

We had a wonderful Christmas week with family members and friends in the San Francisco area but are eager to see many of our friends in Arizona during the next week or so. The weather forecast doesn't promise much warm weather...it's good that we didn't bring shorts or sandals.

I will check back in with you with a few photos from Christmas day tomorrow.............................
