We thought these time capsules were cool!

Well our last two days in Custer were a flurry of activity. One of the things we wanted to do was run by our friend's, Mike & Pat McFall, for a quick hug & goodbye. They recently sold their 45 ft Teton & HD truck and purchased a Foretravel Motorhome. And they are in the process of building living quarters on their property. It's pretty much finished except for the kitchen cabinets. We arrived to find them up to their ears in projects. Pat was on the phone with Dish TV trying to get their satellite set up. After she got things to the point where Mike could take over, she was kind enough to show us their new place and chat for a bit. It didn't work out to take any pics, so I 'borrowed' a couple from their blog. As you can see their new place is lovely. We hope to spend more time with them next year.

We also decided to pick up copies of the EKG & blood work I had done at the hospital before leaving, just in case I require more attention. Even with my two new meds, my symptoms have shown no relief as yet. I'm hoping I just need a few more days. But hey, on the bright side, I've lost a couple of pounds, lol!

It was a beautiful travel day as we made our way out of the park. We saw one buffalo laying in the shade of a tree. And 5 antelope, turkeys and of course deer along the way. We'll miss all of the local wildlife and so will Onyx! But it's time to move on to new adventures.

We traveled about 300 miles today, traveling I-90 East. We crossed over into Central time somewhere along the way so we gained an hour. And we lost about 45 minutes of travel time when we stopped for lunch. That's because when we opened the door we discovered one of the pantry shelves had rolled out, knocked out the end of the wooden drawer, and a glass bottle of chili sauce broke everywhere. Oh my, what a mess. It could have been much worse though because numerous other glass containers also hit the floor. After cleaning up & eating our lunch we got back on I-90 East and noticed the pretty skies were turning gray and it looked like we might hit a storm or two. We made a brief stop at Wall Drug for an ice cream cone and to stroll about for a bit. Wall Drug really is a pretty cool place! Moving on, we crossed the Missouri River pretty much at dusk, so I didn't get a very good picture, but it was still pretty. We arrived just outside of Mitchell, SD about 7pm.

We had considered parking at Wal-Mart overnight, but decided to stay in the area for two nights so found an RV Park instead. Located about 6 miles West of town, Famil-E-Fun is a nice park, run by the same family for over 20 years. It's very pretty here, with lots of amenities, and best of all, pretty empty! The summer crowds are gone. We plan to explore the famous Corn Palace tomorrow and visit a museum or two as well. Hope to get lots of pics.

So that's it for now. We're off to bed....night
