|SURPRISE!!!!! We're in Destin, FL, not Tallahassee. We really wanted to be by a beach and we would have to go another hour south to get to a beach near Tallahassee, soooo.....we decided to drive another 2 hours west. Makes sense, doesn't it? HA! HA! The joy of not being on any schedule and traveling by the seat of our pants.
We are on the Emerald Coast of Florida. It is beautiful here. We are right on the beach. Really! We are parked on the sand watching the waves. Let's hope high tide doesn't wash us away. We are going to stay here at least two days.
We drove over the Suwanee River and I had the pleasure of Dianne singing the Suwanee River song via cell phone. We got on 95 in South Carolina too far south so we didn't see any "Pedro Says" signs.
The drive into Destin was pretty. Going over the main bridge with water on both sides was quite scenic. There are a lot of nice hotels on the main drag.
Tonight we ate dinner in or was it out. We cooked in the RV and grilled and then picnic'd on the beach with a bottle of champagne and watching the sunset. We had to walk up to the RV office so that Ted could get his soft serve ice cream fix.
Answer to the question, "where's our car?". We tried to rent a car dolly to hitch our car to the RV. Unfortunately, Budget would not rent us one, claiming our car is too heavy. Funny, though, it's not heavy if rent their truck with the dolly. So, we had to adjust our plan and Ted and I are in the Pacifica and Dave & Dianne are following behind in the Rv. We all stay in the RV at night.
It is now 8 pm and I am actually sitting on the beach, listening to the waves and blogging. Now, this is living.
Oh, to all our NC friends. You will be happy to know that we are using our Harbour Freight flashlights to find our way around the beach at night.
Tomorrow, we will veg on the beach and visit Destin's WalMart. Exciting!!!!
