After our helicopter ride we decided to kill an hour or so before dinner by taking a short drive down a road none of us had traveled before. It was a pretty drive and we saw a number of really nice homes. We especially thought the property of one was great. It had a lovely home and a neat garden complete with scarecrow. And of course we also passed a few old barns, Larry's favorite thing to photograph. We didn't actually stop to check this one out, but I did take a quick pic. I have to admit it was pretty cool looking and of course it didn't hurt that there were white puffy clouds behind it.
There is a train that tourists love to ride here in the Hills. We did it a couple of years ago and it was okay. The train ride in Verde Valley, Arizona is much better, in fact it's great! But if you've never ridden the tracks before it's always fun. We happened upon one of the trains along our drive and then again when we arrived back in Hill City where they depart from numerous times a day. The conductor noticed me taking pics so he blew the whistle for me a couple of times. Don't you just love the sound of a train whistle???
So that was our day, what fun! I caught a pretty pic of the hills off to our right on our way back to town. It's so beautiful here, we wish we could personally share it with each and every one of you. So, come see us!
