Kenya - Summer 2010 :) travel blog

Left Nairobi bus centre at 10pm on a night bus to Mombasa. Suprisingly not too bad, we argued for seats at the very front though! Arrived in Mombasa at 6am and took a couple matatus and my first ever tuc-tuc to Diani beach, got to our accomodation at 7am - treehouses! http://www.dianibeachbar.com/eco_camp.html They were incredible, set into a jungle among monkeys and bushbabies! Dumped our stuff and headed straight for beach ... by 9am we had a bottle of cheap vodka, some ridiculous fruit squash and were playing i have never on the most beautiful beach ive ever been to - white sands, crystal blue seas, amazing heat! Gloria and I went camel riding, i was on one called Obama!

Dinner that night was ASTOUNDING! Went to Ali Barbours Cave restaurant, set in an actual cave, and theres a large natural hole in the ceiling so while your eating the finest cuisine you look up and see trillions of stars, such an incredible setting. http://www.dianibeachbar.com/cave_restaurant.html The food was ridiculously fabulous, had a lobster bisque to start, then a huge seafood platter. Half cold, half cooked, it has oysters, lobster, prawns, salmon, sailfish, calamary and red snapper. Was INCREDIBLE!

Saturday was a beach day, ended up getting rather burnt though, typical me! In the evening our accomodation hosted a barbeque, after which the drinks flowed and Ring of Fire was played. The main reception area is also in the treetops and has a bar, so you get to meet everyone staying there, was a lot of fun. Getting back to our tent after Forty Theives(a bar/restaurant set on the beach, backpackers paradise) was pitch black, so we had to use my camera to take pictures and rely on the flash for light, was hilarious.

Sunday morning and we left at 7am and drove to Shimone port. From there we got on a lovely typical boat, and snorkelled in Kisiti National Park, for my first time snorkelling i loved it but apparantly theres better to see out there! Had lunch on Wasini Island, OHMYGOODNESS it was literal paradise! Most stunning landscape, and amazing seafood yet again. Main dish was crab for lunch, was so good! Awesome day, got home to Stilts planning to get the nightbus back to Ngong but all fully booked! Of all the places to be stranded, i was quite happy apart from the fact we have such little time left with the kids.

Next day I got my first pedicure! Had a very relaxing day, and left at 8am on the worst bus, it played music all night long, didnt enjoy at all. But now home safe :)
