Angie and Me in SE Asia travel blog

A lazy day was in order today, to give Angie's knees a chance to recover and to give her time to keep spraying the 14 bites she got yesterday. She is definitely using more than her fair share of the stuff we brought to spray on insect bites.

A late breakfast was followed by a morning of reading in the sunshine and updating the journal. We then had a walk along the road our guest house is on, which is a busy road between Pak Chong and the Khoa Yai national Park. There wasnt that much to see, but about a mile down the road was an International Boarding School with a golf course attached. We blagged ourselves a look around the school and its grounds. Very impressive, clean and tidy, with good work by the children displayed. A large sports hall, plus swimming pool, 3 tennis courts, football pitches with running track and a pitch and putt area. We the went to the attached golf course and sat in the bar watching (enviously in my case) the golfers playing a very long par 3. It was a nice way to spend an hour on a hot Thai Saturday afternoon, while drinking a beer. We wandered back to the guest house, had lunch and another cold beer. All that leaves is an afternoon of chilling in the sunshine. We have done nothing of note this afternoon, but on a scheddule like ours its good to just laze around for a while and recharge the batteries, after all it is supposed to be a holiday. We both had Panang Curry for our evening meal, the same as yesterday, this place has really restored our faith in Thai food after our disappointments in Bangkok, and at £1 a dish its been great value too. So tonight is just a case of sitting around sipping ice cold beer, following the football online and waiting for our train to Nong Khai at midnight, the people here will be giving us a lift to the station.
