scott's travelling journal travel blog

hey. spent 5 days in koh tao and didnt get a chance to update due to overly expensive internet.

koh tao itself was beautiful but i found it hard to get around due to poor roads and therefore felt a bit isolated. found that the islands are far less friendly this time of year due to being more tourists than backpackers (a noticeable difference in friendliness from one group to the other). aside from meeting up with my friends tom and michelle (we went motorbiking around the island but due to them nearly being ripped off and me not liking the roads we ended up spending most of the time sat outside a restaurant. i then panicked about riding back to my hotel due to combo of bad roads and heavy rain so gavemy bike back. 20 mins later i walked down the road to my hotel only to discover the hotel's 4x4 rolled upside down with petrol leaking out of it. think i made the right decision.), i pretty much did nothing, rarely left my room aside from about 5 hours sunbathing and maybe an hours snorkelling (which i must say was amongst the best snorkelling of this entire trip!). needless to say ive done a helluva lot of reading and sleeping (3 books in 6 days!!).

whilst koh tao is beautiful, i just haven't felt right for a while. been feeling quite ill for days, always tired, lethargic and generally a bit down. I then rapidly started losing my eyesight in one eye about 3 days ago and it hasnt returned, if anything its getting worse. think the problem is caused by consuming too much sugar (seems to be classic hyperglycemic symptoms) which kinda makes sense as even a simple coffee is delivered to you absolutely crammed with sugar (they even use sugared milk!). yes, i know, i need to go to a doctor, so why am i putting it off so much (apart from knowing its gonna cost me a fortune. yep, im putting money before my health, fucking retard!!)

off to bangkok tomorrow to meet my bro tom, will hopefully pluck up the courage to go and see a doctor either in the afternoon or the following morning.
