Swinging Bridge

Deer on hike

Jay Cooke State Park waterfalls

Mother with baby porcupine

June 10

Jay Cooke State Park

Carlton, MN

This was another nice MN park. We took our usual hike around and found a swinging bridge to walk over—which was a little scary especially if you don’t like heights with a swinging, creaking bridge all at the same time. We were rewarded with wildlife as we walked around. We saw a deer and as we stopped to look at her, we then saw a mother porcupine and her baby trying to climb a tree to get away from us. The mother only got part way up and stopped, then started climbing back down on the baby. It looked like she sat on the baby from where we stood, although I’m sure she didn’t.

Two Harbors, MN

About the only thing we can say about today is RAIN. We’re headed up the coast of Lake Superior where we can have some nice scenic views and tours of lighthouses. It unfortunately isn’t going to happen today and perhaps not tomorrow as we’re getting heavy rains. We can only hope that Sunday will bring us better weather.

During the next few days we’ll be at state and provincial parks in Minnesota and Canada so may not have Internet for a while. But never fear, I’ll still be taking pictures along the way.
