Evans collected us from the country club early & we begun the drive to Nakuru. W stopped on the way at Nyamururu to view Thompson's falls just to break up the drive and a couple of hours later picked up Tony, our cook, before heading into Lake Nakuru NP. A slight step down, we were staying in Banda's here; concrete huts with Thatched roofs but this was a posh one with kitchen (gas bottle and stove) & en suite (toilet and cold water pipe with bowl underneath to stand in)

Lake Nakuru is a shallow soda lake in the rift valley with a huge population of flamingo's, the vast pink colour along the sore they create is quite something - In the afternoon our game drive took us around the entire lake through grassland, bush, euphobia (cactus trees) & acacia forests as well as rocky cliffs & to the edge of the lake itself. Massive waterbuck were abundant here, we glimpsed a shy black rhino before he ran & hid & we got very close to a group of 3 white rhinos. Baboons & rock hyraxes were found on the cliff faces just before the storms started & we headed back to camp. On the morning game drive on the way out of the park we were lucky enough to see a leopard with two cubs as the strolled through the grass but we lost sight of them within minutes and Evans seemed keen to head off. We left soon after heading to Lake Baringo.
