Update provided by Roger:

Last month, the Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, began erupting after almost 200 years of silence. As you are likely aware, a plume of ash from the volcano, sent high into the atmosphere a number of days ago, has been spreading across Europe and has shut down airports. I just heard on British CNN, that more than 60,000 flights have been cancelled thus far. One of our parents, Kathy King, was suppose to return home on Friday, but has been unable to travel. With each day that goes by without airports opening, like Amsterdam's Schiphol (the one we're using), the risk goes up that we could be delayed in getting home on Wed Apr 21. Schiphol's Web site, with the English notice about closure, can be found at: http://www.schiphol.nl/index_uk.html As you can see, on April 18, the authority is not commiting to any date for reopening. We'll just have to take it day-by-day. Oddly, the weather here is perfect. Holland is not known for its sunshine, but that is primarily what we have experienced. Which makes the volcanic ash situation harder to understand; the sky looks clear to us! To that end, I've included some pictures from around the hotel and the adjacent community, which show the sky.
