Summary form Roger:

Today was a day of watching: We spent a couple of hours at the Ajax youth training center to watch some youth teams play and then we went into Amsterdam to take in the site.

As noted in an earlier update, Ajax is the biggest and most successful soccer club in Holland. They have a feeder system, or youth academy, that helps to develop and feed the club with quality players. We watched parts of a couple of games and as expected, the boys demonstrated exceptional skill.

In the early afternoon, we then went into to central Amsterdam and spent 5 hours touring around. We started as one large, integrated group, then split into several groups and reassembled in different ways throughout the afternoon. Being one the great cities in the world, Amsterdam has a lot to offer: unique architecture, waterways/canals, restaurants, shopping etc. One of our groups (13 parents and players), took a canal tour for an hour through old Amsterdam.

I've added a variety of pictures from the canal and street level to give a sense of the kind of sites our boys took in.

Incidentally, we were joined by Paco Deckers and his dad Harm. Paco is a former player of the FC who was successful in being part of the Heerenveen club. Our team will do some training with Paco's coach on Tues Apr 20.
