California Trip -- Day 18

It wasn't a real interesting tourist day after we left Benson, Arizona this morning.

We traveled through the remainder of Arizona today...didn't see anything that we really wanted to see in the driving today.

We crossed over into New Mexico and just mainly watched the landscape and ohh and ahh at all of the beautiful sights. The sun was shining really brightly today and the warmth from it was really nice.

We crossed over into Texas and took our time driving through El Paso...actually it was a nice place. On one side of the interstate it was Texas and on the other side it was Mexico (surrounded by a big high fence). We ate at a wonderful BBQ restaurant while passing through El Paso...Rudy's BBQ.

We decided to stop in Van Horn, Texas instead of starting the long haul over the big desert. Van Horn is a really dead place. We went out to dinner at Chuy's (which is famous for John Madden eating here)....we weren't impressed.

We made a couple of stops today at the roadside souvenir places and bought a bunch of stuff that we really didn't need but we wanted them. It was too much fun.

It is really cold here in Van Horn....there was a warning sign in the office about hoses possibly freezing tonight.

We are off to Houston probably tomorrow....
