Hi Friends,

Today we got away a bit earlier for our visit to the Vancouver Aquarium. This plan was not fulfilled due to a major traffic jam on Highway 1. A normal 5 – 10 minute drive towards the Port Mann bridge took us around 1 hour. We waited for a huge pileup that happened just before the bridge to be cleared – I believe there were 5 vehilces involved! There was not much we could do about this so we decided to eat our lunch as we waited in the traffic – as luck would have it we picked up lunch just before heading to the highway. Actually, if we hadn’t stopped we might have been in the accident…you just never know! As Angela said, everything happens for a reason!

We arrived at the Aquarium and wandered around viewing all the fish, whales, seals, as well as the turtles, sharks, eels, and so many other squiggly, squishy things that live in the water! Brody and Anika – and their parents Scott & Angela seemed to really enjoy this visit. As we reached the far end of the aquarium we noticed a sign indicating that a 4D movie was showing in 15 minutes. We all agreed that we would stand in line and watch this movie. It was fabulous! Not only 3D (we had the glasses) we also felt the wind, squirted (water) by the whales, shaken in our chairs when the shark hit the wall in front of us…..they had all our senses activated as we watched this show – it was well worth seeing – we’d recommend it to anyone!

On our way home we travelled along the Stanley Park parkway – unfortunately it was getting dark (4ish p.m. in November) and the kids did not get the full experience – Stanley Park in all it’s glory – with the seawalk, beaches and huge trees. We stopped for them to take photos of the Lion’s Gate Bridge and Burrard Inlet - at dusk! We hope you enjoyed visiting the aquarium with us today. Take care, Peter & Connie
