Parliment building in Singapore

It is hard to believe that I am really here in Singapore. Throughout my journey Singapore has seemed like this far off place where my trip would end. Seven weeks have gone by so quickly! We got into town yesterday afternoon after taking the bus from Melaka. In the evening, we went out to celebrate my friend Donna's birthday and had an amazing dinner in an area called Chijmes, which has loads of cute bars and restaurants. Afterwards, we went and had "Singapore Slings" (a fruity alcholic drink) at the Raffles Hotel, which is the "thing to do" when you are in Singapore. I have to admit that I had never heard of the Raffles Hotel, but it has quite the acclaim with my British counterparts. We ended our night at Boat Quay, another area of bars and restaurants along the river and managed to stay out until the wee hours of the morning. We really had a nice time and it was a fun birthday party as well as celebrating our arrival here in Singapore.
