Today we went to Playa Conchal, one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches.

Rather than sand, the beach is composed entirely of smooth shells.

We had heard that Playa Conchal was an excellent location for snorkeling. Despite the clear water near the shoreline, there was unfortunately poor visibility, so we decided to save snorkeling for another day. We enjoyed ceviche, BBQ pork and chicken, and Imperial (the most popular local beer) during a brief morning sprinkling.

The real rain did not hit until the afternoon, but not before I collected a bag full of shells and bought some souvenirs.

We found the fruit man when we returned to Tamarindo and stocked up on avocado, tomatoes, rombatons, a lime, and two other fruits that I don't know the name of (one might be cas?). We ate dinner at the Lebanese restaurant. The food was good (I had fattoush and pizza) and the views spectacular, but Tiffany and I are convinced that they forgot to add the guaro to our cocktails. But since I am still feeling a bit under the weather, it was probably better for me. Another early night.

See the next entry for photographs of the spectacular sunset (I'm at my limit for this entry).

Glad I had with me: water shoes

Wish I had with me: umbrella
