Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

(Ron Writing) This morning we went to the weekly farmers market in Antigonish. There were many vendors selling fresh veggies and fruits. Wild blueberries are at its peak and it was inexpensive at $3 (CA) a pint or $5/quart. Our fridge is full of fresh produce.

We’re having a heat wave and now we’re also on storm watch! Hurricane Bill decided to zip north right up the east coast and head for us here in Nova Scotia. After looking at the projected storm track and the listening to the weather forecasts we decided to move a little further west.

After shopping we filled-up with gas and propane and drove from Antigonish to New Glasgow.

It was in the low 90’s and quite humid so we spent much of the afternoon in the New Glasgow library where it was nice and cool and we had a good internet connection and magazines to read.

We are parked at Wal*Mart for the night along with a few other RVs. All of the Provincial Parks in Nova Scotia have been closed until the storm passes so some of those campers needed a place to spend the night. They are forecasting that the storm will peak-out around mid-afternoon tomorrow. We are currently under a “rain warning” and a “tropical storm watch”. If the forecast doesn’t change we plan to stay here tomorrow and “ride it out”.
