From the district of Miraflores in Lima, Peru ...
Needless to say, we were tired after last night's events. We slept in until after 11:00am. The overcast skies seemed to make us even lazier.
We walked to Cafe Suisse and had a very nice lunch. For 39 soles (about $13 US), we had one of the specials ... french onion soup, chicken in a delicious mushroom sauce, and caramel flan for dessert.
After lunch, we went to a couple of department stores and a grocery store and did some more souvenir shopping. In Peru, whenever you are served coffee they place a little spoon on your saucer to stir your coffee with. We've really become fond of these little cafe spoons. So we went to a department store and bought a couple sets, one for us and some for gifts. I think it will be a nice touch when we have company.
We made a return visit to a really interesting shop called Amazonia. All of the items in this store are handmade in the Amazon jungle by various tribes. We bought some really pretty embroidered decorative cloths ... one for us and one for my parents.
Once we returned to the hotel, we spent the remainder of the afternoon reading and resting. Chuck and Yanin took a taxi to our hotel around 8:00pm, and the four of us walked to dinner. We had a very nice meal and then finished it off with some yummy gelato.
We said our goodbyes and "see ya's" as we will be leaving very early tomorrow morning. The next time we see each other will be back in the States. It's been a fantastic trip!
