We arrived in Casper 2 hours later than we planned. The GPS said it would take us 6 hours 1 minute. After fueling twice and having a bite of lunch it actually took us just under 8 hours. Twice the distance we like to travel in a day. I know, I know, we don't usually get very far on a daily basis, but we try not to be in a hurry. Anyway, we arrived at the restaurant (Mexican of course!) for dinner with my Uncle Ed, Aunt De and cousin Lisa. We had a very nice visit and an excellent meal. We were sorry that cousin Shari and her hubby Dale weren't able to make it this evening. Maybe next time. Shari has been having a lot of pain in her right shoulder and spent most of the day at the hospital for tests etc. Hope everything works out for her. Aunt De thinks she'll probably have surgery to repair it. I had shoulder surgery in 2002 so I can empathize with her!
The drive today was beautiful. What a difference in terrain as we departed Utah and entered Wyoming. Larry commented that every time he visits this state he is reminded of all the natural resources that are here. Cattle, sheep, oil, gas, coal and the list goes on. We passed several wind turbines as well. And new ones in the process of being installed. The hills were alive with color and the sky changed dramatically as we traveled along. We hit a small amount of sprinkles about an hour out of Casper but fortunately they were light and short term. Not much traffic either. I was glad to get off I-80 and onto Hwy 287/220 for the last 2 hours. My turn to drive. I love it! I hate being the passenger so Larry usually allows me a small portion of the days travel. Thanks honey!
Since we arrived so late we didn't bother to get an RV spot, so we are parked at the local Wal-Mart this evening. Still hooked up to the truck. We will leave for Custer in the morning, and if all goes as planned, will arrive there tomorrow late afternoon. See you there!
