Saturday March 7

After finding a large green frog sitting in the toilet bowl this morning and many others inhabiting the women’s washroom we decided to forego showering and move on.

We are 48 hours ahead of hurricane “Hamish” which is moving down the east coast with us. Our first port of call was Yeppoon a coastal resort town where we treated ourselves to a morning coffee and a walk along the seafront.

Then we drove on to Keppel Bay and Emu Park for more ocean front walking. At Rockhampton we stopped only to do a grocery shop and at the Information Kiosk that also had the Tropic of Capricorn sign. Finally we headed into Gladstone, stopping briefly at the information kiosk at the harbour where we caught the ferry to Heron Island on our last trip to Oz in 1998.

We ended up for the day at a campsite at Tannum Sands, just a little south of Gladstone. It was a very pleasant campsite despite the grey and overcast weather.
