A very dark picture of us on our balcony...enjoying the wine from...

We arrived back to Melbourne only to find that Amy's mosquito bites (from our day at Freycinet) had got worse and looked terrible....we took her to a doctor at Melbourne airport, who prescribed her tablets to reduce the inflamation.

As Jim and Amy only had one day left and as they had already seen Melbourne, we decided to pick up our hire car and drive them to one of the first towns along the Great Ocean Road. We drove for about an hour and a half and arrived at Lorne, a pretty seaside town with a beautiful stretch of beach. We made the decision to stay overnight in Lorne so that we could drive Jim and Amy back to Melbourne the next day for their flight home.

Taking full advantage of the information centre, we looked for somewhere to stay and eventually made a joint decision to have an unforgettable last night. Jim and Amy, kindly splashed out on a brand new apartment overlooking the sea for us and although we tried to give them some money towards the apartment, we later found it back in our bag! So we owe them huge thanks and a nice meal when we get home! The apartment itself was set on 3 levels, like a town house, it had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a huge open plan living area with lounge and kitchen! The first thing we did was put our wine (from the wine tasting day in Tas) in the freezer, following that we all had showers and got ready to hit the town! As the wine disappeared, Chris and I suggested that Jim and Amy cancel their flights and stay on with us along the Great Ocean Road....whilst it started out as a bit of light hearted fun, it didn't take long for Chris to ring Emirates and 'make enquiries' about the possibility of changing tickets...

Well, to cut a long story short, Jim and Amy were 'sucked in' by the beauty of the Great Ocean Road, the freedom of travelling and Chris' selling techniques! Jim and Amy changed their flight with no fee, to the following wk allowing them to drive the great ocean road with us as well as being able to see Lisa (Sue and Rob's eldest daughter) and family in Adelaide!

So our night in Lorne just got better and better, we drank 2 bottles of wine before going out, had a beautiful meal (bought by Jim and Amy) and basically celebrated being together for another week!

The next morning, we ate bacon sandwiches and booked a hostel (thanks to a recommendation from the doctors surgery receptionist at Melbourne Airport) in 'Apollo Bay' before hitting the road....what could possibly go wrong?
