Gulls in a tilled field

Lots more birds

Farmers don't seem to be bothered by them

Birds in a flooded field, spooked by us

After a dawn stroll along the beach watching the dozens of white pelicans, we continued south. A detour to Sonny Bono Refuge rewarded us with a sighting of a large flock of birds feeding n the fields. Hundreds of them. The reserve is a riparian site noisy with a large variety of song birds and warrants a much longer visit. Farmers have a tolerance for the thousands of birds that descend on their fields.
