What a great day this was. 15 of us, on a boat, way out on Lake Manipouri when the engine gave up the ghost. We were stranded for an hour, a really enjoyable relaxing hour, and then they sent us out a Lake Taxi, so that we could continue on our way. The other people on the boat were fantastic, friendly and really made for an enjoyable day. But, although there was no panic, we did shoot all the women and children!
Joking aside, this turned into a great day, visiting the huge Power Station, Deep Cove Harbour and continueing on to Doubtful Sound where seals lay in the sun and dolphins leaped and frolicked. We got back very late and in the dark, tired out.
Doubtful Sound, although less famous, is far more varied, entrancing and beautiful than Milford Sound, and when touring must be seen after visiting Milford Sound.
