Our friends, John & Bonnie...

Very unusual weather for this area!!!

Our truck's guardian angel...

I-15 Southbound, this is where we turn off to visit Mom &...

The wind was so bad Saturday we put off our trip to Mesquite until Sunday. So I was very pleased to wake up to a beautiful clear day, although the temperature was still a bit cooler than I really like. We made plans earlier in the week to visit sister Joyce and friend's John & Bonnie on Sunday. We arrived about 11am after an uneventful trip. You may remember that John owned and operated a small casino in Henderson for many years, Ligouri's. I was his poker dealer/manager for many of those years. A local place with great food and wonderful customers. Including the mayor, police officers and several judges. Helped me out of a few tickets over the years!

We enjoyed our visit very much. John just celebrated his 85th birthday on December 5th, and it is amazing what great shape he is still in. He walks at least one mile everyday and plays Texas-Holdem a couple of times a week. Sharp as a tack! And Bonnie is an excellent artist. Shows and sells many of her works. She has gifted me with a couple of them, very nice.

We met Joyce for a bite to eat and then enjoyed a nice evening putting up Christmas decorations and working on her computer. Installed a few programs and hooked up her printer etc. We turned in fairly early (11pm) as we wanted to get a reasonably early start back to Vegas. We woke to snow! Oh no, not what we were looking for, for sure. And it was bitterly cold with a pretty stiff wind blowing. Our plans for lunch changed at that point as we were anxious to get on the road. Seldom do we get any snowfall in this area, and it was very light, so we actually really enjoyed it. We encountered rain, then snow, then rain, then snow the entire 90 miles home. You'll note that my truck angel was on our dash doing her thing! She belonged to my grandmother, now she's our guardian angel...

Arriving safely, we bbq'd steaks and visited with Bonnie & Larry and then played 2 games of Hand & Foot. The women prevailed tonight. The guys couldn't draw a card to save their lives! Afterward we watched a little TV and it's now time to hit the sack. A busy past couple of days. So that's it for now. Goodnight....
