Approaching La Paz. This is the view from our bus!!

"No drinking and mind your language" - yeah right....

The last supper in La Paz

So, we have made it into La Paz, which basically means we have crossed the entire width of Bolivia, east to west in about 3 days, for 35 quid. Not bad really, although it was a pretty tough journey. Our bus arrived into La Paz around 10am in the morning and the views whilst driving down into the city were fantastic. The city is in a huge valley surrounded by snow tipped mountains and it`s very BIG! Once off the coach we all felt the altitude, it made it quite hard to breath and after just a few steps with our backpacks on we were all knackered. We stayed the first night in what the lonely planet called "a modern motel like hostel" (was it bollox!) we got the hell out of there the next day as Sam received a couple of electric shocks whilst in the shower and it was very, very cold.

We moved on to the lovely, luxurious Copocabana Hostel the next day and for just 50 Boliviano┬┤s (that`s around 7 quid) we got hot showers, free brekkie, cable TV...... We spent a few days in La Paz just hanging out, and shopping in the wonderful cheap markets and then decided it was time to do something else so booked ourselves on a 4 day jeep tour down to the Salt Flats.............
