My honeys checkin' things out...

Like the sailboat across the lake...

And the waterfowl, these were quite a distance from us actually, he...

A small portion of Clear Lake, very pretty....

We arrived in Clearlake Oaks late this afternoon after a boring 70 mile trip south on I-5 between Red Bluff and Williams. Flat empty land most of the trip, with a few groves of who knows what along the way. It was much prettier after we turned on CA 20, but another steep, windy, two lane most of the way. It seems very dry in this whole area. I can see why they are busy fighting fires. Sure hope they get some rain soon. They really need it.

I had forgotten how pretty Clear Lake really is. It is the largest natural lake entirely in California, and is 19 miles long, 8 miles wide with over 100 miles of shoreline. Fishing and boating are big here. They say Clear Lake is the 'Bass fishing capital of the World'...okay. We took a short drive after setting up and I hope we get to see a bit more.

We are staying at the Island Rv Park. Not much of a park really, but we lucked out and got the best spot they have. We are backed right up to a wall around the lake. $25 per night for full hook-ups and a beautiful view to be sure!

We are only a mile or so from my aunt and uncles home, very convenient while we are here visiting. My aunt had an appointment this afternoon, so we arranged to see them at 7pm. We spent three hours together this evening, and tomorrow my cousins Connie and Sandy are coming for dinner. Have to cram in as much as we can in a short time. We plan to be back in Ely this weekend, but certainly in time to vote on Tuesday. So that's it for now. Just wanted you to know we arrived safe and sound. Goodnight...
