Third leaf about to unfurl. Only 17 more leaves until it blossoms

Seems hard to believe, but as you can notice there are only 5 Brasils in the title.. That means one month has passed since we left the USA.

I am working at learning Portuguese. I have gotten to the point where I convinced myself that I can do it- before I believed I couldn't. Several new friends are helping with the endeavor.

We have met many awesome people here. Our neighbor, four business men and many church people. It goes without saying that Lina's family is extra extra fantastic. They are kind, generous, and loving people. It is very obovious why she likes being here--me too!!

Lovin it here!!!

10/28

On Saturday night we were awakened by a very loud noise a few hours after reaching a deep sleep. The noise was loud enough to startle us into a wide awake mode. We looked around, but found nothing out of place , so we went back to sleep. Sunday morning after church we discovered what had happened (see pics). The large Siriguela tree, heavily laden with fruit, had one of its largest limbs break off. I feared for my coconut tree, but after a lot of sawing and smaller limb removal, the tree appeared unharmed. Two of Lina's sisters came over and harvested over a bushel of fruit.

The banana tree is about ready to unfurl its third leaf. It will blossom after 17 more leaves.
