Luang Prabang is beautiful and fascinating: we visited stunning temples and waterfalls (even found a swimming hole to enjoy all on our own), bartered at the night market, and Tara even got up to watch the 6am alms-giving (faithful budhists give food offerings to the many local monks every morning), which was interesting despite the incredible rudeness and disrespect shown by some of our fellow falangs (foreigners), and visited the somewhat disturbing morning food market (maggots, snakes, lizards, frogs and wombat-type animals were all on sale, alive and dead, amongst the fruits, noodles, chilies, etc).
