Summer 2008 travel blog

Yesterday as we were driving into Calgary from the north, we met a wall of construction trucks coming and going. As we got closer and saw the city sprawl we both realized that neither one of us will miss the busyness and the rush of the city. The best part just maybe seeing Calgary in our review mirror as we leave on Wednesday morning.

Today is our final day in Calgary, both Connie and I have now closed this chapter of our lives. The day started out early as I had to take the F350 to Crowfoot Ford for an oil change and a final road check before we begin our long journey tomorrow. From there we headed to Connie's old work location to pick her final pay check. Then we were off to the Century 21 office so that I could sign all the necessary forms to deregister from the real estate business. Next was lunch with Gord Piper, who is taking over my business and finally a stop to check our mail and at the bank and we were finished for the day.

Tomorrow we will set out on a new journey. We are heading for the lower mainland of BC via highway #3. The plan is to take a couple of weeks to reach the west coast. Once we are at the west coast we have a campsite reserved at Ft Langley until the end of October, November will be spent Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and December back at Ft Langley. Then the plan is to head south for the balance of the winter with stops at San Francisco, CA., Lk Havasu, AZ, Benson, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Moab UT and then back of to Regina, SK in the spring.

Watch for our new trip journal outlining our new adventure sometime later this week.
