Mendeltna C. G.

First Red of July run

Sun. 7-19 - 20

Stopped off at Mendeltna River Camp Ground. Book says their's Artic Grayling here. No luck, their's so many diamond willows on the river bank can’t hardly get my line in the water.

Thought we’d wash the RV this morning, seeing there was no one in the C.G. this morning but us. About 90% done when the manager pulled up on his ATV and said your not allowed to do that without paying. We don’t have a lot of water, I have to pull it out of the river and treat it. You’ll have to pay for washing your rig. “How Much” ??? 5 bucks, so I paid him his money and washed the car as well.

Got to Copper Center about 1 o’clock, set up then went to the river. Caught a small King and released it because I don’t have King stamp. Later in the evening I caught a nice Red.

Mon., went down river to one of my favorite spots, the DNR calls the poachers cove. It’s where I caught most of my fish two years ago. Caught my first fish of the day about 8:30, stayed looking for another until around 10. Caught my second in the afternoon, so two Red’s and a fellow gave me a small King. So three fish today, but took long time. Their still coming !!!!

More to follow.
