Lion's Head

Sail boats on Wiarton Bay

James -- the inspiration for the triathletes

The day started with indoor luxury: fresh fruit, real orange juice, coffee, and a special blend of porridge cooked in a small pot. Eventually I had to say farewell and head for Owen Sound where I was going to meet my sister and hopefully see the finish of the triathlon.

Bud as usual kept us off the main roads and provided a more scenic route. Although we started down highway 6 from Tobermory (since there was no other choice) our route visited Lion's Head and Wiarton before following the shore of Georgian Bay to Owen Sound.

I got to the campground, set up my tent, had a shower and a beer and was ready for my sister Jean and brother in law Rusty when they picked me up. We got to the race in time to see some of our TdC athletes finish. Laura finished 1st in her category of the duathlon, our two relay teams finished 4th and 7th, everyone had a respectable showing, and needless to say some of the cycling times were very good. All in all some very good results for people that had only been training for a couple of weeks.

I had dinner and a good visit with Jean and Rusty and then it was back to camp to get a good night's sleep.
