Today we arranged a city bus tour on the red double-decker buses which gave us three different routes to enjoy...the Uptown Loop, the Downtown Loop and the Brooklyn Loop with a night tour as an added bonus...being the last ones to get on the bus at the starting point, we were stuck with the last of the seats which were in open air at the very rear of the bus...we started with the Uptown tour which took us to the Columbus Circle at Central Park West, past the Lincoln Centre and the Dakota Apartments where John Lennon lived and was fatally shot, to the Upper West Side and the Cathedral of St John the Divine, past the tomb of Ulysses S Grant and the Apollo Theater, thru Harlem and down the east side of Central Park where museums abound...the Museum of the City of New York, the Smithsonian, the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Frick Collection/Whitney Museum...we got off the bus on the south side of Central Park across from The Plaza and walked back towards the Dakota Apartments and visited Strawberry Fields, the memorial to John Lennon in Central Park. We enjoyed lunch at The City Grill and then walked back downtown to The Marriott Marquis past the old Ed Sullivan Theatre, home to Late Night with David Letterman...in the evening we made our way to a wonderful Italian restaurant called Nizza on Ninth Avenue between 45th and 46th streets where we enjoyed a fantastic meal especially the soup and the salads....
