Coming into Stewart, BC

Population of Stewart is 699

Here we are coming into Hyder, Alaska

Stating into the town population 100.

Not sure what this, but it worked.

Here we are at Run-a-Muck Campground.

First day on the road of our trip. It is 10 am, all lined up behind our wagon master and ready to go. We are heading for Hyder, Alaska. Our route will be 16 west then 37 North (Cassiar Hwy). We stopped in Kitequecla to see totem poles then at Kitwanga for some more totem poles. A lunch stop at a logging depot that was a thriving place at one time now just a few people stay there all year round.

The ride on this road into Hyder was breathtaking, with the Coastal Glacier Mountain range to our left. We passed several glaciers, which we will see better when we leave Hyder for Dease Lake. Hyder and Stewart sit on the border between Alask & British Columbia. No customs check coming into Hyder but if we want to go back into Stewart the Canadians do make you go through customs. They are so close that they may get to know us by name. It was a bit like ballet getting all of us into our camping places

Tomorrow we set out on a day trip to see Salmon Glacier. then back to the campgrounds.
