We arrived into Venice late afternoon to find a nice caravan park on the edge of the ocean leading to Venice (as its an island if you didn’t know..). There were heaps of cyclists around so we decided to head out for a ride before settling in for the night.
We woke the next day to the most beautiful day to visit the most beautiful city in the world! Blue skies and sunshine! But with Willy looking like something out of a horror movie. Poor Willy has had really bad hay fever and for some reason when he woke up this morning his eyes had swollen up and were all bloodshot.
We caught the boat over to Venice, we had to go to the pharmacy anyway! But Willy braved it and we had a nice day walking around Venice, trying to get lost but I think it is impossible you always end up back at the centre! We wondered through the little alleyways and over the little bridges, past the hundreds of venetian glass shops, mask shops and designer clothes shops. Had the biggest piece of pizza for lunch, but there was still room for gelato! And of course the tourists spots, Pizza San Marco with the colourful church at one end, the palace and the bridge of sighs, the rialto bridge etc.
I love Venice, its a place you could just wonder around forever. Stay at your nice boutique hotel and sip lattes all day in each piazza!
We are now off to the mountains to do some serious hill climbs! Oh, and I have added a better picture of my bike for all of you who care!
