On our way north we decided to call into Pompeii. It was somewhere I had always wanted to go and well, its meant to be the most visited attraction in Europe!

For those of you who do not know, Pompeii was a town in South West Italy that in 69AD was buried by the erruption of Mt Vesuvuis. Because it was covered so quickly by the hot lava when escavated a lot of it was found in a very preserved state. Firstly I didn’t realise how old it was and its crazy how well it was preserved, like down to paintings still on the walls and the big cobblestoned streets. There are also preserved people and a preserved dog.

It took us about 3 hours to walk around the whole town, down all the streets and into some of the houses and the public baths, the church etc. It was really interesting
