Well we arrived in Singapore at about 5:30pm kick starting our holiday yay!!
We got transfers to our hotel the Swissotel The Stamford very posh indeed. Its actually the tallest hotel in all of south east asia and we were lucky enough to be staying in a king room on the 54th floor (just 12 stories from the top). After a quick change of clothes (considering it was 32 degrees) we headed out. After ending up in china town by accident we finally made our way to the Quays where we found some food and a hospital themed rsturant called the Clinic. After paying S$20 for a beer and a lemonade we thought we would also order some Teryaki chicken buns mmmm they were delicious (see photo), as we had a pretty tiring day it was an early night.
The next morning i woke brent bright and early to go get some breaky at Ya Kun Kaya Toast oh so good. Then it was off for a day of sightseeing, first up was the Suntec Towers - you could easily get lost in there it is so huge, but since the shops didnt open until 11am we decided to head down to the Singapore Flyer first, its Singapores answer to the London Eye. After checking it out we headed back to Suntec where the shops were open - i was very restrained not buying a single thing, but after lucking out for a camera battery (the purpose of the trip) we headed to Orchard road to see what was on offer. We found a battery then decided to head to Little India for lunch. We found a food hall near the Tekka market for lunch then made the trek from Little India to Arab street in the Kampon Glam district. On the way we some how ended up in the Veerama-kaliamman Temple - a very beautiful mosque where we were given a speel about the islam religion then got to have a little tour around. We finally arrived in Arab st just in time for some big festival where there appeared to be a wedding, the whole street was closed off for the party with everyone sining and dancing - and all us tourists there with the video cameras out. Then after the long walk back to the hotel it was a quick dip in the pool and then out to the Quays again for dinner - we had already decided that instead of dinner it was going to be desert after finding a place the night before Necteril which we were too full to eat at. I got some yummy apple crumble with lavender and honey ice cream and brent got waffles with wild strawberries - our europen adventure is starting to become more of a colonary experience mmm. Then we had to head back to the hotel for our 2:20am flight to Cairo.
