We left Crater of Diamonds State Park early hoping to stay ahead of threatened thunder storms. Crossed into Oklahoma and then dropped down into Texas heading for Gainesville. Weather reports were so ominous we continued on to Vernon TX where we spent the night in the Walmart parking lot - among the "big boys" trucks. The rain didn't come, so we were up at five - we had not realized there was another five that time of day, thought it was just five tea time - and another long day to Santa Rosa NM. Bit of rain before we got into Amarillo, but our luck is still holding. Now we are looking at strong wind forcasts for tomorrow, so we shall see. Dick is eager to see his brother in Phoenix. We have been so furtunate this whole trip to miss the bad weather.
Very hard to say goodbye, so we just say "take care" and "safe travels" and "see you down the road". It's amazing and wonderful that a group of such different personalities and priorities can travel together four months and do it so well! We must be special!!
