The internet/phone at the house hasn't been working for about a week. They believe the satellite dish got bumped. They finally fixed it today so we can communicate with the outside world. So here are some things from the past few days.
Granpa Allen and Grandma Karen left on Friday. Emi and Jack were very sad to see them go. However, last night at dinner on the patio Emi and Jack were pointing out all the stars Grandpa taught them - Seven Sisters, Cirrius, Tao Pup, Orions Belt . . .
Since they left, we have been on a beach hunt trying every beach in the area. This is Semana Santa (Easter Week) - which is aa big deal in Costa Rica, a no school for the kids. We took the kids to Playa Tamarindo for our surf lesson the other day. Then we went to Playa Conchal, a beautiful beach about 15 minutes from the house - with calm surf for the kids. Yesteray we went boogie boarding on Playa Prieta, just 5 minutes from our house. The kids are getting SO comfortable in the water and in the waves. Today back to Tamarindo where the kids played on the beach and collected shells (the are amazing) while I surfed with my instructor Daniel (mucho guapo!). The other day I was thinking that surfing might not be my sport - it is difficult and getting beat up by the waves isn't fun if you aren't riding them. But today the waves were calmer and it was just the two of us. I rode 6 waves on my own and it felt great to get my confidence back. He told me it was all in my head - I've heard that before.
Brodie and I signed up for Spanish classes next week at CPI in Flamingo. Just like the kids, we will go to school from 8 to 12. We took both a written test and an oral test to see where we place. I finished very quickly - because I know so little!!
Saturday night we had some of our new Costa Rican friends up to the house for swimming and dinner. Erika teaches at the school, along with her 2 year old daughter Daniela. She also has a 6 1/2 year old daughter, Ariana, who goes to the la paz school. Emi was really excited to have a buddy and a playdate.
