Whisker Pole Success, Finally!

We are so lucky! Punta Cabeza Negra

Anchorage Here

We have now arrived at our furthest point south (this season?). After 2,000 nautical miles Blue Aweigh arrived in Zihuatenejo this morning. We left Manzanillo Saturday morning in the dark and made it to Punta Cabeza Negra. It had great snorkeling but a very rolly anchorage. We had the forward anchor, stern anchor and flopperstopper to try to stop the roll. Gorgeously exclusive area for really wealthy Mexicans. Decided things wouldn't get much better so we decided to leave Sunday morning. After traveling all night with another boat s/v Reprise from Ventura we arrived a bit tired. Good news is that Mike got the whisker pole (downwind sail) working last night. A bit unweildy but works well. And once again, AIS which identifies ships was a wonderful tool for both boats. I even talked to a cargo ship captain of a 967 ft. vessel at about 4 a.m. today and he changed course for me! I love technology.

This bay appears to be quite nice is busy with tourist condos and hotels surrounding the beaches. A large cruise ship is here today and filled the town until their departure. We grabbed a nice lunch and decided to relax the rest of today and save shopping for tomorrow.

There are a few other boaters here from Ventura also s/v Elusive, Buena Vista and Naiad. All three of these boats have been in Mexico for at least a year now. Elusive and Buena Ventura's owners are friends of friends of ours and we plan on going kayaking and out to dinner soon as tonight just wasn't in the cards for us.

By the way ---- Verizon has decided they will NOT honor the Mexico calling plan they gave us two months ago thus it is now 99 cents per minute to talk on the cell. They are giving me $1500.00 in credit as they cannot make the billing system calculate usage when a plan is no longer offered. If you wish to talk please email, text or leave a message and we will call you back. Thanks for understanding :(
