|We've been back in Petaluma for awhile now after spending time with Terri in Half Moon Bay, and yes, all is well with her. The weather is definitely turning colder, especially the nights, and the trees are shedding their yellow and orange leaves. We are staying at our usual place, the Elk's Club, which is full of RVers visiting family for the holidays.
Our Thanksgiving celebration, hosted by Wendy and Norm, went on for two days. On Thanksgiving Day we dined on fine Dungeness crab from WA. state since our local crab season was postponed due to the oil spill in the Bay. They had an earlier engagement with Wendy's Aunt Jean and all were dressed up so pretty! Then on Saturday we did the whole turkey menu which was absolutely fantastic, laid-back and fun and the food delicious. We fixed one of Paula Deen's yam recipes, fresh cranberries with apples and walnuts and a butternut squash and creamed spinach au gratin (from Bon Appetit).
For the last few years at this time we would be somewhere in the tropics, last year Roatan and Belize, but this year we are staying around the area until Jan. 4th. We decided that instead of a trip away we would rent a big house in the mountains near Lake Tahoe, Dec. 27 thru Jan. 3, and treat the whole family to a week playing in the snow and just relaxing and enjoying all of us being together. I found a great place, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, on the Vacation Rentals by Owner website. We have used this site before in Roatan with great success.
On Nov. 29th we'll celebrate Norm's 41st birthday! Then on Dec. 5th I go into Kaiser to get my eyes checked. After that we will head up toward Sacramento with possibly a visit with our friends, Don and Joan, at their beautiful property in Sutter Creek in the Gold Country.
