Bariloche to Mendoza was accomplished by long distance bus, once again.

It's becoming a habit & the onboard bus bingo is just too good to pass up.

The journey from Bariloche to Mendoza was once again a very long one.

17 hrs this time... which does not take the record but gets close.

This time though we managed to book fully CAMA seats. This is good because the seats recline all the way & are somewhat larger tham the normal semi-cama seats.

What this results in is actually not a bad night & sleeping is goooood.

Marcel & Fiona have become EXPERTS at long distance buses, with a sleeping bag each for warmth & cosy comfort & of course food supplies. The food they serve up on the bus is like airline food used to be 20 years ago. No seriously, the food they serve really IS 20 years old...mmmm

So, we arrived in Mendoza with the rest of the day to look around.

The city itself is a little oasis in an otherwise desert & is kept green & lush by large irrigation channels everywhere. This is a great plan, but one wonders given that they are open ditches & sometimes very deep, just how many people disappear into them a year.

Tomorrow we head up into the mountains to see South Americas highest mountain.

Mendoza is surrounded by vineyards so the day after tomorrow we do a wine tour... slurp!!!

Our B&B is great here & the owners son, Javier will be doing the wine tour for us.
