Well, our adventure begins. Yesterday, we departed Los Angeles on a red-eye for Atlanta where I am writing this entry. We decided to come here early to make sure we made the international connection. We have been fortunate because we are cooling our heels in the Business Elite Lounge in Terminal E (International Terminal) at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. The flight over was a necessary chore; red-eye's are seldom pleasant. The worst of it was that the plane was cold enough to hang meat.
Our flight leaves in about two hours. Eighteen hours later after a stop in Dakar, Senegal to change crews and add fuel, we should arrive in Johannesburg around 4pm local time (nine hours ahead of Pacific Time; seven ahead of Central).
Hope you enjoy the journal and our pictures.
Jim and Sharon.
