Glen, Val & I went to the Daniel Boone homestead and Boonesfield Village in Defiance, MO this morning.

We took the guided tour, which started with a 15 minute introductory story of his life, accomplishments and how he came to MO from KY. We went to the house (3 story stone) and viewed the bed rooms, sitting and dining rooms and the kitchen on the lowest floor. We saw the "spring house" where milk and fresh food were stored in containers set on the floor in the cool water from the nearby spring.

We next toured a number of building brought in from all over MO to a meadow below the house to create a village. Check out the photos.

We finished up about 2:30 PM and headed for lunch at Applebee's.

I spent some time on my genealogy software getting ready for Marion and my trip to the St. Louis County Library tomorrow.
